Paramount heißt die Blue-Ray Disc Willkommen

Einst war Paramount einer der Verfechter der HD DVD und obwohl sie das Format weiterhin unterstützen wollen, haben sie jetzt offiziell Unterstützung für Sonys neues Blue-Ray Format angekündigt. Sobald Abspielgeräte in Amerika, Asien und Europa ausgeliefert werden, wird es von Paramount Blue-Ray Spielfilme in den Geschäften geben.

Als möglichen Grund, für den "Überlauf" dürfte die PlayStation 3 sein, die im nächsten Frühjahr das Format breitflächig bekannt machen wird (ähnlich der DVD damals durch die PS2). 

"We have been intrigued by the broad support of Blu-Ray, especially the key advantage of including Blu-Ray in PlayStation 3," Lesinski said in a statement. "After more detailed assessment and new data on cost, manufacturability and copy protection solutions, we have now made the decision to move ahead with the Blu-ray format. We believe the unique portfolio of Viacom content coupled with this format will provide great benefit for consumers and our shareholders alike."

Aber es kommt noch besser, anscheinend reagiert Paramount nur kurzfristig auf kommende Ankündigungen von den Filmgesellschaften Warner und Universal.

Damit dürfte schon jetzt fest stehen, dass Blue-Ray den besseren Support hat!
